Ol Will

"All the world’s a stage,

And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages." -Shakespeare

Jolly Rogers and Tourist Trap Turdsalingerin'

The last time I found a headstone in the middle of the desert, I was moseying along Dirty Woman Draw when I came upon a plot with a marker. Sunny J. Rogers. On the headstone, I could read Robert Frost's words: "Nature’s first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf’s a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay." Yep, there is a lot of people from out of town wanting to live out here,... ...an' as I was saying before, I reckon y'all ain't from around here, huh? "How'd you know?" Ya fuckin' kiddin' me?

Breaking Spring

While folks are drinking, I'm here thinking,...
...about the camaraderie of it all.

Spring break hordes and burning boards.
Dumpsters puking bags while bottles build a wall.
Traffic jams on dusty roads are running off 'em horny toads.
and drinkers driving drunk in places they have never seen.
Getting lost or stuck just makes some folk harsh and mean.
Starting fires, flattened tires, and donkeys kickin' dogs.
Torn up tents and plastic bags gettin' stuck on rodent hogs.

Outta water, oh we're outta water
dontcha know we're outta water and we don't know where to go.
Outta water, oh we're outta water
Wontcha go, we're outta water oh wontcha go and let 'em know...
outta water, oh we're outta water
cantcha flow, we're outta water oh the light's about to show...
Outta water, oh we're outta water.

Praise Be!

Stranded sixers and last bit fifths.
Heating up in the warming sun.
To Man a liquid of thine own gifts.
Parched, they swaller bottled "fun".

The week winds down and comes to an end.
now fewer are the masses in the Big Bend.

She's a Good Land.

A Badlands? Ha!

Yea, for the sake of exploitation, we live in a "badlands" where nobody gets out alive. You step one foot in and you'll find yourself carried out in a box because people here don't play dat. So says Patchy the one eyed cowpuncher. And that's the idea, bring in some explicit publicity and talk about getting away with murder. I mean, you kill somebody you'll have to pay one way or another. Just the way it is. As for this made for TeeVee crap, it's a sad string if you ask me.

I mean, I've lived in the Big Bend Country my whole life and I've known life AND death out here. Our history is rich with stories and the land can show you why. El Despoblado, a no man's land, La Frontera and the Desert. Sharp, Spiny, and lethal to those who overlook the rules. Chasms open left and right. Distances deceiving perception. Water seldom seen and trails abruptly ended. There is difficulty for the novice and challenge for the expert all the same. You see, She expects that we listen all the time in order that our safety is ensured.

Which brings me to the point:
There are those that listen and those to the contrary.

You see, it might be a "Badlands" iffen ya don't listen. Yet,...if you listen to the green hues of the landscape, to the contours of the hills and follow the veins of invisible Life, the water's mark on the surface of the earth. The unseeable water that Is. Iffen you can listen and read these things, Iffen you can pay heed to the laws of light, the laws of time and to the laws of seasons, weather and energy. She's sure to be with you throughout the rest of your days. Disregard Her, Life, and yours too will unravel. Might sound simple but it ain't.

Life is complex and circuitous yet beautifully interconnected.

I live here because it is home. It is the music in the air of this here Desert that soothes my heart. I love the integrity of what some call "empty spaces" and "desolate". I appreciate the blunt facts of life when one is stripped of convenience. I have come to appreciate more and more how every single thing about my life yesterday has begun to make so much more sense today. Why we exist here and what our true purpose is. Connect the dots with simplicity and soon enough all is clarity.

Life and Death.
Sex, Drugs, Rock n Roll.
Lies and Truth.
Money, Power, and Greed.

I am grateful that I'm not being charged for the air I breathe regardless of the fact that our dependency on oil and gas is taxing our lungs via pollution. Besides, I'm a slave to Tobacco, what gives? Paradoxical Hypocritical Flea!

Reality TeeVee: I mean, hell, if we had anything real about reality TV out here, it would be about simple things that matter most and not about murder at the O.K. Corral. The world has enough drama to give itself a heart attack. The question She often asks people is:

Which world do YOU live in?

The answer, She whispers, often determines your fate.

Of course, I ain't no speshul thang, just some little fella
walking down the lane lookin for a light.

Reality:

The having of a camera crew in the present moment makes obsolete the attempt at catching reality. Camera crew gets exhausted because they've not adapted to the habits, rituals, and labors of the local element. No crew can be on top of it 24/7. No crew can film what happens in the dark. No crew can hear the words of wisdom when they expect to profit off of a lifestyle that is actual and real. It's an unwritten law.

Sad shame we humans seem to stoop lower every passing generation.
Please tell me it's an illusion.

That's me thought for the day,..and ahh yonder goes a blackbird...

El Regreso

I'll say Whoooo-ey and I mean WHOOOOO-ey!

Sho' is nice to be back in the saddle and runnin' in 'em dere hills. It's been too long, neighbor. I reckon more than a set of spells wouldn't ya reason? Well, let me start by professing my love for this place, my friends. The name matters not but its that kind of place where when you grow up in it and leave it to come back and accept that it's in yer blood. You cain't just take it out and change that about your being. It's a part of you, the distant horizons, the ornery uplifts, and the ever so present jaws of wildness. Ready to bite upon those unaware, the weakest of the link, for the sake of survival. Wildness, I stress.

Our confluence of energies make it today what it is. You name 'em, we got 'em. You see 'em, we be 'em. It's the Desert and a hell of a place to be thirsty. I mean, You got more beer going down and piss coming out than you got water stored in tanks. That's Terlingua in a nutshell.

And it's good to be home. A-yup.
Nice to be howdyin' and whatnot.

Better yet, we, the lady and children, have the skeleton of a house put up, now all it needs its some loving for the walls to go up and the rooms to be filled. Time, friends, it takes time, patience, and prayer I believe, to really put Life in a home. A place to hold Sacred from the "outside". A place to treasure and nurture our hearts that we may walk with humble hands and clean eyes.

It matters not that you drank the Kool-Aid, no one said you had to keep drinking it.
And that goes many ways...

Now I gots to run on now, tho' I'll be seein' y'all soon enough cause this here blog is ALIVE 'n' kickin'

The Constitution has been shot!

You know, I always figured it was pretty unfair when people told me I was never gonna be able to serve in the United States Military because I was born deaf. I had Grandparents who supported the war effort through the second world war. They adopted a patriotic and nationalistic sense of pride with their service. You know, coming out of the depression and getting through the war, they had a strong sense of identity. They were proud Americans from Texas and I looked up to their sense of discipline and ethics because they made it through some trying times and still managed okay. They took in with the New Deal and They done what was expected of Them.

White People.
Hearing People.
A Privileged People.
High Life.

And experience has shown us that it is different for people with privileges formed by an unjust system of Privileged Man-conceived laws. You cannot rewrite history. You cannot rewrite His story.

Mother Mary,
Full of Grace...
Mother Earth.
Sacred Space...

Without women you ain't shit!
Treat 'em with RESPECT.
Without Woman, you ain't shit!
Listen to your Mother.
The Earth is Round.
Fertility, Son, respect Her.
She gives you Life...

Yet Women are not treated equally.
Spray her. Rape her. Pollute her.
For understanding carnal knowledge.

Oil and Natural Gas is King of many thrones and everyone with powers at their fingertips wants a part in the game called Money, Power, War and Greed.

People with perfect hearing get deployed to fight a war for a Pentagon that rolls an Oval and they come back with all kinds of fucked up shit. Let's consider hearing loss; you're in combat and there's a shit-storm going on for a number of days. Gunfire, Cannons, and Bombs. You finish your tour and get back stateside, your ears are fucked and you're going to the VA to get a hearing aid, which will need batteries and routine maintenance. Shit costs money , right? So you're a designated consumer of hearing assistance products. You're a profit to the guy buying shares from a company they know is contracted with the U.S. Government. Think LRAD. You're just a person they use to make more money to make more wars to make more money. They will always do it this way until they get what they want; everything!

Let us try not to neglect the fact that Deaf people can be trained to positions where hearing loss WILL happen and can defend their constitution just like a person with near perfect hearing. Respected as an equal...

BUT it IS...
..a New World.
One where they play God.

I don't see why people cannot respect the rights of other human Beings who are actually no different in Being a part of the world than they are except for selfishness. I mean, when a group of wealthy men, no matter how small, use their power to forward their own desires and agendas, they don't care to think where they're going to be tomorrow. They don't care where their children's children will be tomorrow and I really think they are too self absorbed to give an ounce of concern for those they see as subordinates, poor folk like "anybody that IS NOT like them". It's really hard for a rich man to let go of what he calls tradition. Privilege and Power. A tradition that is rooted in Racism. Bloodlines. Greedy Breedies.

"I'm better than you.
I can hear.

I'm better than you.
I'm white.

I'm stronger than you.
I own the Police.

I can put a man in the White House.
And I can put a gun to his head."

Well, you know, your guns are powerless.
You see, your bombs are duds.
Your soldiers hollow.
And You... ...are heartless.

Force people to eat unhealthy food because it is all they can afford.
They get fat and have health problems.
A Profitable People.
Your Faux News and Propaganda is clear as day.
Your Hollywood stuff is a weak attempt to sedate en masse.

Y'all GollumFolk, who own many a controlled enterprise and maintain them by means of fear, hatred, intimidation, manipulation, and destruction, need to know that this doesn't have to make any sense to you at all. You know why? It makes perfect sense regardless of what YOU think. YOU have a belief system that was programmed by a society bent on keeping Control and Status. It is what it is and that Is all that it Is. A Scared Secret Society that doesn't want to be held accountable for all the people they have assassinated and I say use that word no matter how they choose to frame it.

Whew, these past two (days, weeks, months, years, decades, scores, centuries) have been horrible. This nation, the United States of America, has done royally allowed it's government to be taken under siege by little men and We, The People, are non-existent when our rights are violated. "I will fuckin' kill you!" while you can "Go fuck yourself!"

This is the Department of Homeland Security, folks.
Your computers, phones, and cars are tracking devices.
Many of you have surveillance on your ass.

It's in the bank.
It's in the hard-drive.
It's in the card.
It's in the chip.
It's now in your blood.
Privacy is OVER.

While, of course, the Rich keep risin' richer
And the poor keep drinkin' cheap liquor,
You're addicted and so is He.
Nicotine and Alcohol are a poor man's fix.
BUT for him...

The Rich Man.

His privileged taste prefers prime cocaine from down South.
Because the war on drugs is a game he loves...
...to play with his cronies.
Mind-Control Politics.

They think they OWN us...
...all For They and Them and Theirs.

We say; forget your wars fueled by greed and lust for power!
Forget your embedded lies and crooked strategies.
We trust in Goodness to come and know that Truth Prevails.

"Wake up children!" are the words of the Rising Sun.
"Wake up children!" are the words of the holy one.

Can y'all hear that?

Bang!

New Library Opens At New Mexico School for the Deaf

When entering the new library at New Mexico School for the Deaf, you will read these words upon the wall: “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” - Dr. Suess

“If you don’t have a library, students won’t learn any words, if you have a library, you’ll learn.” -Nirveli Smith, First Grader at NMSD, August 17, 2014

Get this: there is a section in this here library dedicated to Deaf Studies.
Lots of information. Plenty to LEARN. Might want to check it out and learn something about us here deaf folks. You'd be surprised. Maybe you'll go somewhere and understand why our heritage is important to us and why our language, American Sign Language is real and bona fide. Perhaps you'll learn that it's actually the ear of the heart and the eye of the soul that provides children with language development. Love can't be beat. When you teach a child in the least restrictive environment, you help them expand their horizons and encourage literacy visually rather than aurally alone. Give 'em all that helps and works. You see, Literacy in deaf children is greater among those who have parents that teach their children to read using American Sign Language. In that, they learn bilingually. Pretty cool, huh?

But, of course, I'm just sayin...
My opinions are my own and I am no expert here.
35 year Old Deaf Child.
